PADI Specialty Diver Ratings

PADI Specialtiy Diver Courses are designed to let you expand your diving knowledge and master specific aspects of SCUBA Diving that excite and interest you the most.
Specialty Certifications are qualifications in a specific aspect of SCUBA Diving.   You will receive a separate PADI Certification card for each Specialty qualification you gain.

Each Specialty Diver Course comprises self-study modules with quizzes and knowledge reviews, and a number of diving scenarios conducted with your instructor.

Some Specialties are open to you as an Open Water Diver ; some require you to be an Advanced Open Water Diver.

Adventure Dives which you have already completed may also credit towards their corresponding Specialty rating.   Adventure Dives are "tasters" in a specific aspect of SCUBA Diving (whereas a Specialty is a qualification that shows you have mastered that aspect of SCUBA Diving).

Each Specialty will earn you a  new PADI Specialty Diver rating card.   And, when you have amassed five or more Specialties, and you are a Rescue Diver with 50 or more logged dives, you can apply to PADI for your Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest accolade in recreational diving.
