SPECIAL OFFER: SAVE £20 WHEN YOU BOOK THE PADI RESCUE DIVER COURSE AND THE EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE (EFR) COURSE TOGETHER

Suitable for divers aged 12 and over

Up until now in your diving career, as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver with at least 20 logged SCUBA dives, you've been diving just for yourself. Yes, you've dived in a buddy pair or in a group. But now you're ready to take on a more responsible role, with one eye open for the safety and wellbeing, not only of yourself, but of other divers, too.

The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to anticipate, handle, and above all to prevent diving mishaps and emergencies. It gives you a "toolbox" of knowledge and techniques for you to draw on in emergency situations. You'll need to be a current CPR and First Aider, such as an Emergency First Responder . You'll need to have logged at least 20 dives, including deep dives and navigation dives. The minimum age is 12.

The course comprises home study with a step-by-step workbook and self-assessment quizzes to help you check that you have understood the learning objectives in each section. You'll learn about Diver Stress, Self Rescue, Diving First Aid, Emergency Management and Equipment Considerations. You'll finish off with knowledge reviews and a final exam.

Your in-water training will have you role-playing in several different emergency scenarios:

-Assisting a tired diver
-Assisting a panicked diver on the surface
-Responding from the shore for a conscious victim on the surface
-Assisting a distressed diver underwater
-Searching for a missing diver
-Surfacing an unconscious diver
-Assisting an unconscious diver on the surface
-Getting an unconscious diver out of the water
-Responding from the shore for an unconscious diver on the surface

These individual scenarios build up to two integrated emergency scenarios, where you will combine all the skills you have practised into an entire rescue. There will be a missing diver underwater whom you will have to locate, surface, assist and bring to shore in order to perform CPR and first aid, before the emergency services arrive.

The skills you will learn will be useful to you not only in diving emergencies, but also household, road and work related emergencies that you might attend in the future.

Divers say that their Rescue Course was the most valuable and rewarding course in their career.
