OCTOBER HALF TERM 2009 Club Diving Holiday to the RED SEA
Sunday October 25th - Sunday November 1st 2009
In the UK, the end of October heralds frosts, cold winds and the rains of November and winter.
However, we'll be sunning ourselves on a diving trip to the Red Sea.
We are expecting clear blue skies, 28oC in the shade and water temperature of >26oC - thats better than summer, here in the UK. With crystal clear waters and more species than the Great Barrier Reef, the Red Sea is the best diving available to us on a short-haul flight.
The Holiday includes:
* Flights
* Transfers
* Hotel
* Breakfasts
*
Free
use of SCUBA Kit for CGSB SCUBA Club Members
The cost of the holiday is just £555 with a choice of diving packages
You may opt for different Diving Packages to suit your holiday programme.
Each Diving Package includes two boat dives per day, 12L cylinders, weightbelt and weights, transport to and from the marina and a local guide on every dive.
4 Day 8 Boat-Dive Package - £139
5 Day 10 Boat-Dive Package - £159
6 Day 12 Boat-Dive Package - £179
Dive Packages for fewer days are also possible, and extra days can be added on to prebooked Dive Packages while in Sharm for 50 Euros, paid locally.
And for non-divers, there are try-dives and learn-to-dive courses available at the hotel.
The Red Sea offers a spectacular combination of colourful marine life, ancient corals, reefs and wrecks, in a setting of all-year-round warm clear waters and deep blue skies. This is a diver's honeypot !
The local people are really friendly and hospitable, and English is widely spoken. Diving is a crucial part of the local economy, and is protected both in terms of preservation of the environment, and the welfare and safety of visitors.
There is such a variety of local and international cuisine that you will not be able to sample it all in one visit. We keep going back because the diving and the relaxed lifestyle is superb.
Our dive package offers us two boat dives per day, and opportunities for additional day, night and specialist dives. Air-fills, and Club SCUBA kit are all included. We'll do reef-dives, wreck dives, drift-dives, photography dives ... and every dive will be a spectacular naturalist dive, stacked with colour and variety.
There are dives for every qualification, whether you are a Junior Open Water Diver, an Open Water Diver, a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver, an Advanced Open Water Diver, or above. We will all dive the same locations, at different levels according to our qualifications. There will be local Dive Guides and a Club Instructor with you on each dive. You will have the opportunity to exercise your diving privileges and explore an amazing environment which is simply teeming with life and colour.
Our second day will include two dives on reefs in sheltered bays. These give us the opportunity to sort our weighting out and get ourselves used to the crystal clear waters and procedures on the dive boat. But sheltered doesn't mean compromise - you will be amazed at the variety of life and colour that you will experience (bring a camera!!).
Then we we will travel further afield, to dives on shoreline reefs along the Sinai coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, to the marine reserve of Ras Mohammed Marine Park and the mid-channel reefs of the Straits of Tiran.
We will spend the day on our dive boat. There are three decks - a sun-deck (also with shade) where we can plan our dives and chill out; a salon deck, where we can go inside and where we will be served lunch by the crew, and the "wet" area where we kit up.
We return to our hotel in the late afternoon where we can have a kip and chill out round the pool before we stroll into town for dinner. We will aim to eat somewhere different each evening and there are styles of food for everyone.
On our seventh day, there is a free day. There are opportunities for an extra day's diving (most people are so blown away by the diving they choose this!) or for touring or just for relaxing and taking in some sun (but easy does it !).
Our eighth and final day will be our no-diving-before-flying day. Time for drying our kit, touring and (duty-free) shopping, and venturing out into the desert on camels or quad bikes. We like to ride out on quad bikes before dawn and sea the sun rise over the Red Sea - due to a mirage it doesn't "rise" it just "switches on".
Finally, we transfer back to the airport and return to Gatwick, wondering how soon we can come back again.
